Our School Routine

Start and End of the Day

Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils enter and exit from the school via the playground. Reception can enter via the blue gate near to the main entrance by the bicycle sheds at the front of the school. The gates are open from 8.30am.

Children are expected to line up in year group lines and will be sent into school at their appropriate start time.  We do ask that once your child has lined up that parents then leave the playground.

Staff cannot accept responsibility for the welfare of children arriving at school before 8:40am.  Please do not leave KS1 children unattended on the playground until you know that a member of staff is on duty.  Parents are able to give any messages to the member of staff on duty who will relay to your child’s class teacher or the appropriate member of staff.

Children who have early morning music lessons, maths groups or Morning Skills can come in via the main office door. Please see the Headteacher if this causes a problem to see if special arrangements can be made.

The registers will close at 9:00am.  Any pupil arriving after their start time will be marked as late in the register.  Late arrivals should report to the school office so that parents can sign their child in as late.

Please do not come into the cloakroom areas with your children. These areas are small and get very congested in the morning and at the end of the day.

The teaching days are as follows:

  • Years Reception, 1, 2, 4 and 6 Start time – 8:40am and finish time – 3:10 p.m.
  • Years 3 and 5 – Start time – 8:45am and finish time 3:15 p.m.

This is a school week of 32.5 hours.

Please note that lessons end at these times. Children then need to collect their belongings, and, consequently, do not usually leave the building until at least 5 minutes after the end of the teaching day.

Parents collecting Reception class children (Year R) are asked to wait outside the blue school gates by the bike shelters.

All Children will be brought onto the playground at the end of the school day.  Parents meeting their children are asked to wait well away from the classroom doors and windows.

Reception and Key Stage 1 children must stay with their parents while waiting for Key Stage 2 children to exit.

We will only allow children to walk home alone when they are in Year 5 and 6.  Please email the school office to confirm this arrangement.   Children will not be allowed to walk home alone until we have this in writing.

Children in Years 5 and 6 will not be allowed to walk home a younger sibling.
