Moving up to Secondary School

Secondary schools in Buckinghamshire are for children aged 11-18 and are made up of all ability schools, grammar schools (for children who qualify through the Secondary Transfer Test process), and special schools (for children with an Education, Health & Care Plan).

Pupils in Buckinghamshire have the option of sitting the Secondary Transfer Test at the beginning of Year 6. Children who attend a Buckinghamshire local authority primary school do not need to register to sit the test. If you do not wish your child to sit the test, please inform the school in writing.

Applications for secondary school places need to be made via Buckinghamshire Council within the timeframes stated.
